The Nymphaeum is a long garden entered through a Victorian moon gate from the walled garden, up steps bordered by rushing water rills on either side and large balls of clipped box.
It is met in a grass central courtyard by wide water steps with the dominant fountain designed by Quinlan Terry. This entire Italianate garden in the front of the classically inspired walls is called the Nymphaeum and was enclosed and re-designed by Marylyn Abbott ten years ago. Today it is decorated by only two seats to be a space of just cool green reflection.
